Grouping of Works from Fountain by Nicole Eisenman

Grouping of Works from Fountain is the first permanent public sculpture in the United States by renowned contemporary artist Nicole Eisenman. One of her most significant works to date, the original temporary iteration of the work–- Sketch for a Fountain–- made its international debut in 2017 at Skulptur Projekte Münster, a major recurring exhibition of sculpture which takes place every ten years. For the opening of 401 Park in Boston, Eisenman installed three bronze figures situated in various positions of repose around a shallow pool, an ode to the art historical precedent of fountains as a social hub and life source for city dwellers. A 2015 MacArthur Fellow, Eisenman was awarded the prestigious FLAG Art Foundation Prize in 2018, and her work is included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial and Venice Biennale. Eisenman’s Grouping of Works from Fountain resonates both with Boston’s dynamic contemporary art landscape and with the local Fenway community, which is further grounded as a notable cultural destination with the addition of her installation.

Installed in June 2019, the work was acquired by Samuels & Associates for permanent installation in the new public park located at the corner of Brookline Avenue and Park Drive in Boston, Massachusetts.
